ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTING

Climate change and environmental stability have become issues of great international importance over the last decade. As this has happened Corporate Environmental Reports (CERs), which communicate a company's environmental performance, have become as common as earning reports. A CER demonstrates a company-wide commitment to voluntarily reduce its environmental impact.

eComponents Technology provides an environmental reporting system that includes greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculations and waste and recyclables tracking and reporting. Our environmental reporting system is one component of our comprehensive Energy Information System (EIS) since the majority of carbon emissions come from the consumption of energy. Our EIS software provides accurate energy consumption data as the basis of the greenhouse gas calculations and reporting.

We provide comprehensive GHG reports that itemize emissions by: facility, scope (direct or indirect), and source (gas, electric, steam, etc.), and include total emissions with comparisons to base year emissions.

Our greenhouse gas reporting system enables organizations to:
  • Establish both facility and enterprise base year emissions portfolios
  • Track emissions from facility to facility and at the enterprise level
  • Identify facilities with higher than expected emissions levels
  • Highlight the organization's efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.
  • Track emissions reductions from the purchase of either renewable energy credits (RECs), or
  • from the purchase of energy directly from a renewable (green) energy provider.

eComponents Technology follows the guidelines of the GHG Protocol: Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standards, developed by the World Resource Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD) for identifying and reporting emissions sources, as well as defining organizational and operational boundaries. We use internationally recognized standard emissions factors and current data from:
  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
  • International Energy Agency (IEA)
  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
  • The Climate Registry
  • The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative

Our web-based waste and recyclables tracking and reporting services provide clients with a comprehensive overview of the organization's waste and recycling practices at both the facility and enterprise level. Our reports track:
  • Amount of waste hauled
  • Amount of recyclables collected
  • Waste and recycling hauling charges and credits
  • Number of hauls for a given time period
  • Percent capacity of each haul
By utilizing this reporting service our clients have been able to:
  • Optimize waste removal by eliminating unnecessary pickups
  • Set waste reduction goals
  • Increase participation in recycling programs
